The Caribbean Policy Development Centre (CPDC) in partnership with the European Union (EU) is implementing a joint 3-year grant partnership that seeks to build the capacity of the Non-Governmental Sector in the Caribbean through the implementation of a number of specific actions. One specific action is the provision of a Professional NGO Leadership Training Workshop on Policy Advocacy.

CPDC invites institutions or corporate candidates to submit proposals which are aimed at building the institutional leadership capacity of NGOs in the Caribbean to effectively manage their project activities and advocate on behalf of their constituents. Extended Deadline – Online NGO Professional Management Certificate Course

As part of the Civil Society Regional Development Project which is funded by the European Union, the Caribbean Policy Development Centre (CPDC) is happy to announce our continued partnership with the University of the West Indies, Open Campus, for the online NGO Professional Management Certificate Course. The Certificate course consists of two courses MGMT 073: Essentials of NGO Management and MGMT 074: Developing and Managing Projects; and are expected to be undertaken concurrently.

While there is no direct cost to the scholarship recipients, there is a registration fee of $100 USD which will be reimbursed upon successful completion of the course.

Call for Proposals – Consultancy to guide the process for drafting of NGO Legislation

The Caribbean Policy Development Centre through the support of the UN GEF Small Grants Programme is currently undertaking a project titled Supporting the Development of an Enabling Policy Environment for Civil Society Organisations to Contribute More Effectively to the 2030 Agenda, Particularly, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A key component of the project will be to undertake research which examines the current environment which NGOs in Barbados operate within, towards the aim of creating an enabling legislative environment to allow CSOs to effectively participate in the policy making process.

CPDC therefore wishes to contract the services of a consultant to produce (1) one policy document to guide the process for the drafting of NGO legislation. The consultant will formulate this policy paper based on stakeholder assessments, focus groups and documentary research over a three-month period.

The Caribbean Policy Development Centre (CPDC) in partnership with the European Union (EU) is implementing a joint 3-year grant partnership that seeks to build the capacity of the Non-Governmental Sector in the Caribbean through the implementation of a number of specific actions. As a key component of the project, CPDC has been working to foster an enabling legislative and regulatory environment for NGOs across the Caribbean region to contribute more effectively to national and regional development.

CPDC invites registered NGOs located in the CARIFORUM region to submit Expressions of Interest to undertake Small Scale Advocacy Actions that engage policymakers at the national level to create enabling legislative environments for NGOs to improve their operations.

Call for Applications – Capacity Building Officer

The Caribbean Policy Development Centre (CPDC) is currently accepting applications for two (2) Consultant Capacity Building Officers for a USAID-funded Local Capacity for Local Solutions project that will focus on ten (10) countries in the Eastern and Southern Caribbean (ESC) region.

Application Requirements:

  • A Master’s Degree in a Development field plus a minimum of 4 years’ experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Social Science field plus 6 years’ experience working in the development sector in the Caribbean;
  • Minimum of 3 years proven technical expertise in more than one capacity building skill sets (participatory research, project cycle management, financial management, proposal writing, advocacy and lobbying, strategic planning);
  • Strong project reporting competencies (technical reports, policy development and analysis);
  • Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work as part of a team;
  • Experience coordinating decentralized multi-stakeholder processes; and
  • Proven experience providing technical support to NGOs and other development actors to improve institutional and programmatic capacity.

The Caribbean Policy Development Centre (CPDC) in partnership with the European Union (EU) is implementing a joint 3-year grant partnership that seeks to build the capacity of the Non-Governmental Sector in the Caribbean through the implementation of a number of specific actions. One specific action is the consultancy to undertake youth volunteer project services.

CPDC invites all registered NGOs located in the CARIFORUM region (excluding the Dominican Republic) to submit proposals to implement project services to attract young volunteers as a strategy for building institutional capacity.   1. What is the target age group for the youth volunteers? 18-25 years old
  2. What is the budget for the projects? 8,000-12,000 USD. Consideration will be given for regional projects up to 20,000 USD.
  3. Who can apply? Registered NGOs operating in any of the CARIFORUM countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and Grenadines, St. Kitts and Nevis, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago (excluding the Dominican Republic).
  4. Is there a specific geographical location in which the proposed project activities must be undertaken? The project activities associated with this call for proposals must only be undertaken in the countries listed above, either regionally or nationally.
  5. Can administration cost be included in the proposal? It is a service contract; administration cost can be integrated within the proposal.
  6. Can someone be hired specifically to conduct administrative duties? No, but they can be incorporated into the existing programmatic or project activities.
  7. Does the project in question have to be a new undertaking? No, it can be an already existing project, however, the proposal submitted must clearly demonstrate a plan on how youth volunteers will be incorporated into the project activities.
  8. Are there any areas of preference for project submissions? Yes, projects that tackle more than one objective from the specific objectives listed in the Call for Proposals.

EXTENDED DEADLINE – NGO Leadership Training Workshop: Advocacy

The Caribbean Policy Development Centre (CPDC) in partnership with the European Union (EU) is implementing a joint 3-year grant partnership that seeks to build the capacity of the Non-Governmental Sector in the Caribbean through the implementation of a number of specific actions. One specific action is the NGO Leadership Training Workshop. As a result, CPDC is offering scholarships to individuals interested in attending an NGO Leadership Training Workshop. This scholarship is only available to NGO personnel who function at a senior level in their NGO. A letter of endorsement is required either from the NGO’s Board or the relevant authority. The participants must be based in the CARIFORUM region and work with an NGO.

The training is scholarship based which includes tuition fee, airfare, hotel accommodation and meals. However, there is a non-refundable registration fee of USD$150.00 if accepted to be part of the training workshop.
