Barbados Association of Non-Governmental Organisations was formed in 1997 to function as the focal point of civil society in Barbados. It is a national network of NGOs, advocating for the inclusion of NGOs in national policy and decision-making process. BANGO’s aim to engage its constituents in a strategic planning process to identify structural and operational gaps within BANGO and to design a way forward. In addition, BANGO will seek to design a capacity building framework aimed at enhancing the capacity and level of organizational management among BANGO membership.
Barbados Council for the Disabled was established in 1976 to address the needs of Barbadians with disabilities. It is an umbrella body for twenty-two (22) organisations of and for persons with disabilities. Their member organisations are driven by a desperate need to bring attention to the marginalization of the issues that exclude them from society. This project will allow them to utilize the tools needed to secure partners and funders that will help to achieve their individual organisations’ goal. This will be achieved by two (1) day workshops for 40 Officers of members organisations on public speaking for business and social events, and a strategic planning sessions for member organisations.
Caribbean Youth Environmental Network is a regional network that was established in 2001. Its aim is to promote the engagement and full participation of young Caribbean citizens (15-30 years of age) as agents of change, ensuring that there is the participatory implementation of sustainable development activities. With this subgrant, CYEN aims to develop a functioning financial record and management system at the various national levels. This will allow for a standard approved financial audit to be undertaken for the CYEN organisation through the Barbados based CYEN Caribbean Office. Additionally, they will redesign and develop an interactive webpage that interfaces with social media for the CYEN organisation.
Central Finance Facility Co-operative Society Limited was founded in Trinidad and Tobago in 2002 to facilitate thought leadership, innovation, market leverage and cooperative financing in the cooperative movement through Cooperation among Cooperatives. The objectives of their project are to strengthen co-operative societies and their ability to contribute to the implementation of a shared strategic vision and to support the capacity of co-operative societies to fulfil their role in providing value to their members. Moreover, they will seek to foster knowledge transfer, know-how and success stories among co-operative societies in Trinidad and Tobago and thus, increase the efficiency of the operations of co-operative societies.
Disabled Peoples’ International North Americas and The Caribbean Inc. was legally established in 2011 with its secretariat in Antigua and Barbuda. The aim of the organisation is to be the focal and operational point for member organisations and the Secretariat to promote and protect the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by all persons with disabilities by creating an environment for sustainable development in North America and the Caribbean. With this subgrant, they plan to build and strengthen the functional capacity of Disabled Peoples’ International North America and the Caribbean and member organisations geared towards ensuring their continuance of being effective advocacy agents through technology and training for the equal inclusion of persons with disabilities in the Caribbean and further afield.
Inter-Agency Group of Development Organisations was established in Grenada, November 1988, with the vision to provide support and to act on behalf of its members in order to develop their capacity for survival, sustainability and efficient delivery of services to their constituents. The general objective of their subgrant is to enhance the capacity of the Inter-Agency Group of Development Organisations to become an effective civil society platform, participating in and influencing policy development and other decision-making processes both nationally and regionally. This will be achieved through a strategic planning exercise, procurement of basic office equipment and set up of website and establish social media presence.
