The Caribbean Policy Development Centre (CPDC) is executing a project entitled “Support to Facilitate the Participation of CARIFORUM Civil Society in the Regional Development and Integration Process”. The project is funded by the European Union with a major focus on the strengthening of civil society and appraisal of the internal and external environment for good governance. The Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Governance Score Card is one of the key deliverables for the project.
The Scorecard adopted the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Corporate Governance Methodology for scoring the good governance practices among NGOs. Interpretation of
the scores informs the recommendations made for improvement of good governance practices within organisations across the CARIFORUM region. The NGO Governance Score Card and Infographic provides a snapshot of the internal governance operations of a sample of civil society organisations across the region. The survey instrument was used to assess the application of the principles of good governance within the NGO sector in order to (1) identify the areas of weakness and (2) motivate organizations to commit to strengthening their good governance practices.
